Mats Bergström (b. 1961) is a graduate of the Royal College of Music (RCM) in Stockholm and the Juilliard School of Music in New York. He made his recital debut at the Wigmore Hall in London in 1983 and has since pursued a career as soloist (both as recitalist and as soloist with symphony orchestras), accompanist and ensemble player in various genres.

Mats has arranged a large number of songs and instrumental works for guitar, including Schubert´s song cycle ”Die schöne Müllerin” and Bach´s ”Sei Solo” (the three sonatas and three partitas for solo violin). He has also recorded extensively, as soloist as well as with e.g. mezzo soprano Malena Ernman. His latest solo CD, ”Francisco Tárrega: Guitar Music” (Naxos) was nominated in 2010 for a Swedish Grammy Award in the Classical Album of the Year category.

Mats Bergström, who is a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Music, redides with his wife, three children, five hens and a rooster in an old village school building outside of Uppsala.
